Get Ready For Maintenance

Getting Ready for Your Dreadlock Maintenance Appointment

Booking a maintenance session is the best way to keep your dreads healthy, strong, and looking fresh! To make sure you get the most out of your appointment, here are some tips to help you prepare for the best experience possible.

---

Clean, Dry Dreads = Better Results

Before your appointment, wash your dreads thoroughly with a residue-free shampoo and make sure they are completely dry. This helps your loctician work efficiently and ensures your dreads tighten up properly.

💡 If it’s been more than six months since your last detox, I highly recommend doing one before your maintenance session! A deep cleanse will remove any buildup, making your dreads lighter and fresher for the best maintenance results.

---

Pain Management: Make Yourself Comfortable

Dreadlock maintenance can sometimes be uncomfortable, especially if you have a sensitive scalp. To help reduce any discomfort:

✔ Take some Panadol before your appointment if you’re prone to scalp tenderness.

✔ Get a good night’s sleep and eat well beforehand. Being well-rested and fueled makes a big difference in pain tolerance.

✔ Ladies, consider your cycle! The week leading up to day one of your period can make your scalp extra sensitive. If possible, try to book your appointment outside of this timeframe.

Bring Entertainment & Snacks

Some maintenance appointments can be long, and not everyone feels like chatting the whole time. Feel free to bring:

🎥 A movie or show to watch

📖 A book or e-reader

💻 Your laptop to do some work

🍫 Snacks & drinks to keep you fueled

I want you to feel comfortable during your appointment, so bring whatever helps you relax and pass the time!

By preparing for your maintenance session, you’ll have a smoother, more enjoyable experience—and your dreads will thank you for it! See you at your next appointment!
